Demons

I came back to my hotel room after a long day.  On TV was a show that dealt with supernatural occurrences.  Normally such a show would not get a second look but I am currently in Varanasi, India one of the most demonic places on earth.

Varanasi is the birthplace of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.  There are Hindu temples in this city that promote prostitution, cannibalism, and the worship of demons.  Over the past two days I have seen and heard firsthand how evil spirits and demonic worship have destroyed lives and devastated families.  There have been shocking stories and sad testimonies that have pierced my heart.

In the West we are playful with the spirit realm.  We laugh at Halloween decorations mocking death and make a character out of Satan.  We read novels and watch TV shows believing the supernatural is only for Hollywood and fantasy.

Here in Varanasi nobody plays around with such things – they know it is real.

Time to turn the channel.

  1. It’s frightening to think that so many people in this part of the world, Christians included, look at the demonic realm as being part of a fantasy world. We have a real enemy, and if we choose to follow hard after the Lord, we are going to meet with opposition from these demons. If we don’t believe in their reality, we will fall in defeat because you have to know who your enemy is before you can go into battle. I believe it’s time the church in the Western world wakes up and trains for battle. The Lord is coming back for a church that is glorious, without spot or wrinkle. That cannot happen until we push back the enemy in our individual lives, in our local churches and in the church world-wide. And when you are in an atmosphere of demonic worship as you are in India, you need tremendous protection and militant intercessors praying for you. I will add you to my daily list of people I pray for. God bless you and prosper your ministry through Bright Hope.

    • Thank you for adding us to your prayers. I feel them moving God’s hand of safety, health, and provision. All I would add to your comments is this: “Greater is He who is in me, than he who is in the world”.

      • Absolutely true! There would be no point in spiritual warfare without this assurance, would there? We know who has won the war.

We are being well-trained in spiritual warfare in our church as we press forward for revival. You know you are making headway when the enemy is hard at work to derail you. I and many of our intercessors have known direct attack from the enemy, as have many of our congregation, but it’s so encouraging to know others are holding you up through these times. It gives you strength to press on.
